The Forest

There's a legend in my town that says, once you see the demon eyes they will follow you until you die. I don't know where the legend came from all I know is that it has been a part of our town since the beginning, passed down over generations. My grandfather told me the story about the demon eyes when I was little; he told me that a creature lurks in the forest surrounding our town, but that sometimes they venture out of the trees, and when someone sees their red, glowing eyes, they will see them wherever they go until they go crazy and die.
This story has been apart of my town from the beginning, warding people from getting too close to the forest or from going out after dark, but as I got older I realized that it was mainly used to scare little kids into behaving, never believing just how much truth there was to the story until it was too late.
