10 years. That's how long it's been since the Battle of Hogwarts. Since Beckett was trapped and held captive by his best friend. He was supposed to die in the war. In one timeline, he did.
Everyone has moved on. They've long since stopped crying over fallen heroes, over lost friends. The Wizarding World has stopped announcing the anniversaries, or showcasing the names and pictures of those who had been killed.
So why can't Beckett move on?

Note: This book is made to accompany material found in the Ghosts of Hogwarts tag on Tik Tok and in the Ghosts of Hogwarts Amino. The tag's central characters are ghosts who died in Harry Potter's final battle with Voldemort at Hogwarts.
"Hindsight is 20/20" takes place in an Alternate Universe where none of the 'Ghosts of Hogwarts' tag members died, but survived the war instead. It takes place ten years after the war, and was made as an explanation for why my original character, Beckett, is living life like the war was yesterday.

This is going to be set in the summer before fifth year at Hogwart's. Harry had always believed in Dumbledore and never doubted him that is until he was forced into the triwizard tournament by said man. While Dumbledore had left him all alone in the hell he was forced to participate in he thought that his friends would stick by him through all of this, but no they turned on him thinking that he had put his name in to get him even more fame than he already had. Ron was the jealous one while Hermione was the one thinking that he had broken some rules to do something that would give him yet another adventure. Harry was then left to rely on the only person that was willing to help him and that was 'Alastor Moody' aka Barty Crouch Jr. As Harry was getting the help of an actual adult that cared for him and seemed like he wanted him to survive they got closer. Barty soon told Harry everything but Harry didn't really care mainly because at least they had never lied to him or with held information form him. So while it got closer to the last task Harry was real close friends with Barty and they had already brought Voldemort back to his former glory of Tom Riddle. Tom and Barty had found out that Harry was Tom's accidental Horcrux they couldn't really fix it without killing Harry and as it was they both thought of him as their family. So when that last task arrived Harry didn't take the cup but Cedric did and he had won while Harry and Barty had 'mysteriously' disappeared. They both arrived with there things in front of Gringott's with Tom already waiting on them and this is where the story begins.

"Years ago, I met a boy who made all the wrong choices." As orphans, you and Tom Riddle have more in common than having no parental figures in your lives. One day, it turns out that you, too, can use magic, and it changes everything. For better or for worse? Your adventure starts off in Hogwarts, Britain's very own school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where you are to spend the next seven years of your life. You grow and learn, but not always together, and not the same things. During the course of the years, he starts to get more and more involved with the Dark Arts... And you start to realize that there is something very wrong with your friend. As he gets older, he becomes more manipulative, possessive and twisted. He starts to use his powers and his looks to control those around him-including you. Eventually, Tom's true nature is revealed, but by then, it's too late for you. You fall under his spell, completely under his control, and there is nothing anyone could do to save you from the darkness that awaits. *~*~* ♡ A slowburn/sociopathic/dark Tom Marvolo Riddle x F!reader book that centers around both reader's perspective and Tom's fall into madness/rise in influence and power. The 'effects' of Tom's influence become apperent later in the book, so the emotional conflicts/thoughts start later too. ♡ Cross posted on ao3. ♡ I don't claim the Harry Potter characters in any way, the only thing I claim is the plot, some OC's and this, like my other books, are not made to make money off of them. ♡ I'm firmly against using AI for bookwriting as it takes away from the whole creativity standpoint. So you don't have to worry about that in any of my books. *~*~* Highest ranked: #1 in manipulation #1 in sociopath

He had achieved almost everything he had wanted. He had power and he was immortal. And yet, there were a few things he hadn't achieved. He had not been able to get rid of his fear of defeat. And he had not been able to forget what had happened that fateful night fifteen years ago. If you asked him whether he has rued what happened that night, he would tell you that there's no room for repentance or contrition where there's not even a conscience. Yet he would tell you that although he felt no remorse that did not mean he did not regret. Sometimes you only know what you've had when you lose it. Sometimes it needs loss to inspire perception. Sometimes you need a second chance. And sometimes you get it. ********** This is the sequel to my story "Poison", and I guess it's necessary to have read "Poison" for "Perception" to make sense, so please feel invited to read "Poison" first if you haven't done so yet ;-)
