After the 40th season of Survivor, the producers decided to shift from a season about winners to those who... weren't so lucky. 18 Castaways who assume they are on a trip to Fiji are redirected to the Skeleton Coast, an unforgiving desert wasteland in Namibia. All of these castaways have one thing in common; they have played before, but have been unable to make the merge. Joined by two contestants who have played twice and still were unlucky, this group of twenty will be put to the ultimate test of social politics, and discover how truly important a second chance could be to them.

Adriel Delamar, though born female, was raised a boy to inherit her father's possessions. She enters the competition to earn money for her family. For the promised thousand dollars a day, Adriel plots against fellow participants and does her best to win the challenges and earn some cash. She hides the details of her birth and becomes the "perfect" man to avoid living within the restrictive limits set for women. Unexpectedly, Adriel and one of the other contestants get a little too close, and people start to question if they're simply good friends, "brothers" or if they're something more. Something that, if true, will end with them being banished, disgraced and penniless, without any chance of contacting their families again.
