負担:生命の正義 (Burden: The Justice of Life)
Sixteen-year-old Alice Hamada is a junior reporter/ photographer for the Kobe Times newspaper, being given special permission by both her agency and the Kobe City Hall itself; she decides to take upon herself the task of uncovering the truth behind "The Kobe High School Murder Incident", a crime that had occurred within the city over five months ago, of which caused a national uproar after the ages of the murderers were accidentally revealed via the Internet. Having done research on the case in the past few months, Alice learns that all the criminals were at least connected to one person personally. That person was a girl by the name of 'Masami', the now deceased murder victim. Being allowed to release the murderers on temporary bail, Alice seeks each of their personal history concerning 'The Mystery of Masami'.
