An evil government leader, a terrible life on the run, immune babies, and no home.

Yep, that sounds about right.

It's been a month since Sigrid took over Abel, and I, along with Sam, Janine and Maxine have been trying to find a way to take it back, to win back our home and stop the Minister.

We still don't know why she started all of this, why she engineered the apocalypse to happen, but we will find out all her secrets, sooner or later, with the help of some new friends, and old ones.

But I've got a lot of things to worry about-the voices in my head and what I've seen, and if I can keep up an act. Because if I can't...

It's time for me to take a stand. We are the rebellion. We are stronger than anyone believes us to be. Our reputations have been tainted, but that will not stop us. 

I know what it's like to be someone who does what they're told, but not anymore. Now it's time to be a rebel.

An expectant mother, a shady government worker, an unexpected visitor, and the search for a cure. Yep, that sounds about right. It's been almost nine months since the world was saved from eternal happiness, but the world is still in danger. The dead still walk and we are still far from finding a cure. But we are still discovering new things. Veronica's hard at work, and with Abel teaming up with the Ministry nothing should be able to stop us. At least, that's what I thought. But there are things we still don't understand, things I'm not sure I want to understand, like the voices in my head, like the zombies that can almost talk and are what Veronica likes to call 'Sentient Type Zombies'. There are things that I'm facing that I'd rather just forget-things I'd rather not know about... But I can't be that way. I can't back down-not from the A.M.T.B., not from the voices in my head, and not from the overwhelming feelings that clog my throat and make it almost impossible to breathe whenever I see- No, feelings are not important now, not when a cure is available, not when he's busy worrying about his baby that's due to arrive and the fact that Paula's getting sicker and... Back by popular request! The 2017 rough draft of The Virus Within! (Caution: Contains massive plotholes that were fixed in the polished The Virus Within Series. Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book. It has nothing to do with A Different Virus. I wanted to try a book with an easily irritated main character and a nutcase secondary character. This book has a slightly darker outlook at the beginning than my usual stories, but it has some humor further along. A secret unknown mission, a shot down helicopter, a guilt-ridden heart, and no name. Yep, that sounds just about right. I came to Abel Township for one reason only, but after the unfortunate event of my helicopter being shot down by a rocket launcher of all things, I'm apparently going to be staying here a lot longer than planned. Because of it, I'm going to have to play nice in order to survive, which is a lot harder than it seems. Everyone carries a burden with them, me included. I'm a runner, and until I leave this pathetic little settlement I'm going to do my job, and run. But one of the things I'm learning it that nothing is ever as it seems. Each piece of the puzzle brings another question, another addition to the story shrouded in mystery and dripping with sinister intent. Maybe this settlement is as pathetic as I thought it was. Maybe my helicopter was shot down for a reason. I cannot wait around for an answer. I learned that long ago. Now deemed Runner Five, I have decided I will do what I have to do to find out every mystery here in Abel Township. And I'm going to start with my actual mission. What is Project Greenshoot... Just because we're living in a world where a disease can make the dead walk, doesn't mean that that disease is the only one we have to worry about. Junin2-one of the most deadliest diseases out there. We need the vaccine. Now that most doctors are dead and most medical equipment and knowledge is gone, we have to prepare for this disease as best we can. The only way we can do that, is get the vaccine. The only problem, the vaccine is locked away in a high security facility run by an AI. To get in, you must be registered as an employee of the company Xia-Hifa, the company that creates the vaccine. That is where I come in. Time is running out. Junin2 season is getting closer and closer. I have to get in there and get that vaccine before it kills us all in one of the most horrendous ways possible. It shouldn't be too hard-get my special T-shirt, do well on my performances, and get out. Should be okay, right? Wrong. A.N.N.I.E. is a lot smarter than we thought. Don't speak. Don't let it hear your voice. It will deceive you. It will hurt you. "You keep calling me 'it'. You wouldn't like being called 'it', would you?" Let me ask you this, what is your top priority?
