We met under an apple tree on a school field trip. Her short curly light brown hair was what caught my attention. The second thing that caught it was an apple falling after her. We were only 9 at the time. She carelessly climbed the tree for one reason.

"Because I like apples. Why wouldn't I climb it to get more?"

She got scolded by the teachers and the workers there. I didn't know her name or who she was, but she was always the smartest out of all of us. Yet, she's reckless and dumb and careless.

"I'll call you Snow White!"

"My hair isn't black or my skin isn't pure white. If anything, I take that offensive." That was the first conversation we had.

"What's your favorite part of a love story?" "I like the very first kiss, but I like the second one even more," I say. I bite my lip and look at him. Oh. My. God. What the hell am I doing? Am I flirting? I think that I'm actually flirting. With Devin. Devin, my best friend. I have officially lost my mind. I should probably stop. But I can't seem to. "Will you grab me that one?" I ask. "Fuck." He whispers into my neck, sending a thrill of excitement through my body. His lips still smothered kisses over my neck and his hands roamed my body, starting at my chest, going down to my stomach. Caressing my soft skin, his thumb trailed circles on my groin before slightly slipping into the waistband of my jeans. My breath catches in my throat as I pull at the hoodie that covered his chiselled body. Understanding, Jacob pulls it off in one swift movement before attaching his lips back on my neck. Sucking and biting it before flicking his tongue over the sore spot. A quiet moan leaves my mouth and I clasp my hand over it, denying any noise to escape. Swiftly, I grab his hand, turn him around, kick him right above the back of his knee, and pushes down so he's on his knees in front of me in a position of which I could brake his arm, "What a shame, 'cause personally, I don't like fuck boys with various STD'S." I look at all the men in the group who had their jaws dropped, all except for one, "Touch me one more time, and I'll brake your arm in two." I stand and kick his back so he falls on the concert. "Anyone else?" they stare at me blankly. "Didn't think so." When fuck boy tries to get up, I take my foot and slam him back down. Looking back at the boys, I say, "Later boys." It was gentle and soft, something I never expected from a guy like him. He moved his right hand from my cheek to my waist, tugging me against him, and molded our bodies together. A wave of electricity went down to my core when he licked my lips. "Open your mouth, Bella." His commanding husky voice against my lips jolted my heart, and I followed his order like a slave. With no control, a moan erupted from my throat as his tongue met mine. It was barely audible, but I knew he heard it when he smiled against my lips. He swept my hair from my face to my back and gathered them in his fist. He tugged my head back, deepening the kiss, and my heart thrashed in my chest. At that moment, I didn't need drugs to know what being high felt like because his lips were enough to send me on nine clouds. Just once and I was addicted to it. Bounded by a promise and terrified of the truth buried deep inside that he refuses to acknowledge, he's forced to choose someone else and leave his Aurie alone in the storm. Will he ever be able to win her back, even after the choices he's made? The two promises that tore his life apart- the one that he still upholds and the other that he failed to keep- whisper words of desolation in his ear: 'I promise to keep you happy, I promise to... marry you' and 'I promise, my baby strawberry, if I'm ever lost, I'll always find my way back to you.' We often think the heart and the brain are at odds, but in their tale, we get to know that hearts themselves are their own fiercest contradictors - stubborn, unrelenting, and impossible to ignore.
