Why Me?

I struggle to get out from between his arms, but his arms were locked in position. He laughs as he watches me try to make my great escape.

"You know, you look cute even when you're angry", he states with a grin.

"It's not funny, let me go", I growled.

He gazes at me for awhile as if he's studying me, and then his smile fades and his face hardens into a more serious and concerned look.

"Not until you tell me what's wrong "

My head drops as my self-confidence begins to vanish once more. The words spoken to me earlier rummage through mind, and a question forms from my insecurities.

"Why me?", I mumble

"What do you mean?", he asked

"You can have any girl in this school, yet you choose to fool around with me. Why did you choose me?"

I felt the warmth of his right arm leave from the side of me, and reposition itself on my chin. His hand slowly lifts up my chin, causing eyes trail from my feet and all the way up until our eyes meet.

"You asked me why, but I think the real question here is why not?"
