Joanna "Georgie" Martin is an openly lesbian teenager in her senior year of high school. When she came out to her parents, they refused to accept her and now she lives with her straight best friend Emma. Although Emma has been her best friend since the fourth grade, she has never been able to truly understand the everyday difficulties that Georgie has had to face since coming out. But when a nasty fight breaks out between them in the middle of their second-hour chemistry class, an explosion goes off, knocking Georgie unconscious. When she comes to, she soon learns that her entire world has been turned inside out.
