Julie Graham lives off of the coast of Florida along with her aunt. With her natural ability to create whatever she sets her mind on and her appealing, tan complexion, she makes every boy immediately become interested. Living with her aunt Kirsten, she's on a pretty loose leash, seeing as Kirsten has little to none experience when it came to children, let alone a teenage girl.
But, she of course has a boyfriend and it just so happens that he's her next door neighbor.
Jaden Hunter, is quite the catch, freckles, a perfect smile and tan, fit body. He lives at his parents' cottage along with his mother and has been for the last three years, he and Julie have been dating for two of those years.
Jaden's twin, Colton Hunter has never been introduced to Julie throughout the numerous times he visited, although she's heard gossip that most people would lie their hands down to be kept confidential of him. Colton Hunter is complete and utter trouble, with his snarky remarks; soft, floppy light brown hair and piercing emerald green eyes. So, when he and a few of his friends are proposed with the impeccable idea to come spend the summer with his mother for the summer, they immediately accept.
But, what's a first impression worth when it comes to a group of teenage boys?
Colton is a city boy, used to the constant buzz of neighbors, loud traffic and pumping music. So, when he moves into a small beach town, he doesn't show onus towards anything about the change of environment.
What do you have to expect when there's a combination of a free night away from parental supervision, responsibilities and access to excessively loud speakers?
So, when Julie has the nerve to barge through the front door and rip them a new one, there's no clarity as to what's going to happen in the future.
"Yeah, I was born in August so naturally my parents thought it was a perfect name," I rolled my eyes for emphasis. "It gets annoying after a while though."
As soon as August finishes her sophomore year in high school, her father sells their house and moves the family into their rental home on Rock Rose Beach. Faced with this new change, August longs for friendship, especially when she meets her next-door neighbor Jacob.
"Well, I think it's a pretty name," he smiled again, which made his whole face light up. He stared at me for a minute more before asking, "I feel like I recognize you from somewhere, have we met before?"
As her 17th birthday draws nearer, August begins to recall a past summer spent at the beach with Jacob when she was little. But was their closeness a thing of the past, or will she be able to rekindle what they might have had before?
