Celaena Sardothian slowed to a jog and she waited for Chaol to catch up with her. He usually wasn't this slow she thought; she had some telling off to do when he caught up. Years of experience from being the worlds notorious assassin made her want to run straight out of the castle and to freedom but Celaena wouldn't leave Chaol. She even cared enough about Dorian to stay put. However every time a richly dressed courier strutted past her, her chest would scream enemy! Since Nehemia's death Celaena had been even more on edge. Fleetfoot had howled every night.

Celaena Sardothien is Adarlan's finest Assassin but when her best friend is murdered and her ghost returns to send Celaena on a life-threatening quest, Celaena must learn to trust the people she cares about; something she hasn't done since Sam Cortland's death.

All characters and places belong to Sarah J Maas.
Set in between Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire but does have characters from Heir of Fire in it.

I lean close enough that our lips brush when I speak. "He isn't worth it." I say, but he doesn't look convinced. I smirk as an idea pops in my head. "If you behave...we can do whatever you want tonight." His eyes widen, and a wicked smile grows on his face. He pulls back slightly, looking me in the eye. "Whatever I want?" He asks, and I grin wider, nodding. "Whatever you want." **** Jax has never had what would be considered an "easy" life. She's been beaten, tortured, and hunted. Yet she's survived it all, and came out stronger because of it. Now, she's facing an entirely new challenge. A court of the strongest warriors known to man, and she's somehow made her way into the middle of them. And she's running blind. *** MAJOR TW: This story contains MANY mature themes, and there will not be warnings at the beginnings of chapters. ***PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU COMMENT ANYTHING (update in 2018): I started this fanfic three years ago, BEFORE QUEEN OF SHADOWS WAS RELEASED. Therefore, PLEASE stop commenting about how I don't know what happened in Queen of Shadows and Empire of Storms, or how my story ignores that. The war is over, and Aelin has restored the mighty kingdom of Terrasen, building a new city and a new palace, with a new court that included her most trusted members, Aedion Ashryver and Rowan Whitethorn. Since Dorian is the King now, Aelin decides to visit Adarlan to discuss treaties, and also to visit him. Rowan is to join her, while Aedion is staying back. Reunited with Chaol Westfall, the handsome Captain of the Guard and an old romantic interest of Aelin's, the spark between them might just reignite. But is it just a fling and fun affair? After all, she couldn't possibly marry a man of Adarlan, and she did not exactly imagine a forever with Chaol anymore. And as for the Fae prince, Rowan Whitethorn...well HE is just hopelessly in love with his queen, who did not seem the least bit interested in him - too busy hooking up with the Captain of the Guard to notice Rowan's longing looks. Will Aelin ever realise Rowan's feelings for her, and will Rowan learn to control himself and patiently wait? Patience and control were never part of the game - for either of them. So it all comes rushing to them, all at once. And how will that turn out? Perhaps just beautiful. ** Although this is a Rowaelin fan fiction, it also includes a lot of Chaolaena. This would also probably be a short story, around ten chapters (but maybe more hehe). Characters and places belong to the beautiful and talented Sarah J. Maas. Hope you enjoy.
