The Protest is a fictional memoir inspired by the real-life religious hijacking of my two daughters, ages 10 and 12. In The Protest, Janey Powers has broken away from her small town fundamentalist upbringing after being seduced by her minister and is building a new life for herself and her daughters in Washington. But her freedom has a price. She is being stalked by her former minister, Reverend Logan Churlick, mouthpiece of God, who will stop at nothing to possess Janey's heart and soul and will not hesitate to use her daughters to win her. After Churlick establishes paternity in court, Janey fights to protect her children as they become enmeshed in their battle, innocent victims of a firebombing by the blood of the lamb. Janey faces the unthinkable as she puts into play a desperate strategy Churlick could not foresee - but will it save her girls or will she lose them forever? They told her to be quiet. She wrote her name in fire instead. After surviving the graveyard, the trial, and the silence, Lady Harriet Potter is done asking for permission. The Ministry wants her silenced. The school wants her watched. And Dolores Umbridge - with her pink smiles and poison pen - wants her erased. But Harriet is a girl forged in legacy and loss. With a wand in her hand, a House at her back, and Oliver Wood as her anchor, she's no longer just surviving - she's leading. As new decrees rise and old scars reopen, Harriet builds a quiet rebellion in the shadows of Hogwarts - teaching spells, telling truths, and daring others to stand with her. This is not the Harriet they remember. This is the one they should fear.
