aliens, also known as "the others", have invaded planet earth and there a limited amount of human lives left. ella, who is one of the remaining survivors, finds herself in the middle of this catastrophic event and her main priorities have always been surviving and keeping her little brother safe. but, things get slightly more complicated for ella when her little brother gets taken away from her to be brought to a suspicious boot camp which is known for preparing kids to fight off "the others", and now she will stop at nothing to find him. as she strives to fight on her own, she crosses paths with a group of boys who are heading to the same destination as she is. little did she know, this group of people she finds (specifically one of the boys) would be a major distraction to her initial plan of finding her brother.
