The Biolizard was the first and failed product of this project and Shadow was the only successful product and thus became the ultimate lifeform. However, the two were not the only products to be made out of this project. Light is a failed product- another hedgehog, created before Shadow. The female hedgehog, despite her enhancements, could not harness the chaos energy the professor aimed for his ultimate lifeform to. When Shadow discovers her, his curiosity is the only thing keeping him from destroying her. Sonic spotted Shadow outside of the village one day. Curious, he decided to follow him to see what is up with the dark hedgehog. After finding out the reason why Shadow likes being alone in that one particular cave, he decided to stick around and company him.
