It's 1962 in a small town in Mississippi. Everyone knows everybody. But no one knows Elijah Appleby. No one ever bothered to. All they know is that he is a black male with two younger brothers who's struggling for work. But all this changes when the daughter of a wealthy cotton mill owner, June Jackson, takes a particular interest in Elijah. This friendship could be the best thing Elijah ever did for himself -- or it could be the worst.
