Alder lives in Sundraydia, an isolated land where books-and the magic that can be learned from them-are forbidden. When he turns fifteen, Alder must leave home for the first time and venture into the Forsaken Lands, a place filled with unnatural dangers. He travels with Prince Reynold and Garman the Hunter to hunt for a prize that will prove his worth.
