When a wounded man turns up at Fort Death, Dylan has a real-life superhero on his hands. Only this one is full of bullet holes and is bleeding all over the place. Also, he talks funny. Almost like he's not used to being around kids, or people. Dylan tries his best to help, but the dude isn't getting any better. He needs a doctor...or something.

Ally is relieved to get the call from Dylan. Sure, it's the middle of the night. And yeah, her kid brother is even more annoying than usual. But she's been trying desperately for two weeks to figure out how to explain to her mom why she is leaving school at the beginning of the semester and coming home in September instead of on Christmas day like all the other students in her nursing program. Dylan's cryptic plea for her return is exactly what she needs. She knows it's just a stupid bid for attention, and she can easily blame him for ruining her semester if she can't work up the courage to tell her mom the truth: that she's not going back to school. Ever.

What she finds at home is much bigger than an excuse to ruin all her plans. In fact, it's much bigger than anyone she's ever seen. The dude is huge and stronger than anyone has a right to be. It's pretty scary, actually. He could snap her like a twig, and she's not exactly wafer-thin. But Dylan insists the guy doesn't want to hurt them. And he obviously needs her help. In fact, after looking at his wounds, she's not even sure how he's still alive. Dylan's theories about a superhero in his little tree house can't possibly be true. Still, there's something different about the stranger that scares her. And the weirdest part? He seems scared too.

"Three weeks. That's how long I got to have drama-free. I'm not sure what is happening to me or to Oakwood. Nothing's the same since I rolled into town and it just keeps getting weirder. Suspicious agents in suits roam the streets without an explanation. They're staring straight at me. The new Chemistry teacher is NOT who he says he is. I'm doing things I never thought I could. Like, mutant-level things... Lauren, Luc's dead twin sister, hid something from everyone. Something important that may have lead to her demise and that could lead to ours. Hunters are in town. I never knew four words could contain so much dread and terror. I'd rather deal with the Wanderers. I'm on the brink of a breakdown. I need help..." BOOK #2 IN THE SERIES! Ignorance is not bliss... In the wake of ridding Oakwood of Wanderers, other dangers come creeping in and they're somehow linked to Luc's absent twin. The past returns to haunt the mutants in inconspicuous ways. Riley's life is yet again in jeopardy, but this time she's not alone. Luc and his family are all thrown into the teetering balance. More secrets are uncovered. A trap dawns on them all. Invisible threats start crawling from all directions. Who is the real enemy? TW : behaviours of depression and PTSD are displayed. I don't name them, but one of the character will be struggling a lot. It may not be suitable for everybody. Other adult matters are briefly included, but nothing explicit or intense. Rewriting specifications : the main points of the story and end of the book will remain the same, am just going to change a few ways of getting there and adding some extra spice. Feel free to pause the read until the REWRITING sign disappears.

"Did you know that you just pull me in? I can't stop thinking about you." Kieran's eyes are shut, his head against the back of the couch, while making his confession. I guess he had moved in the few moments I'd been in my own thoughts. "Is that a bad thing? I feel it too." He opens one eye and grins. "No, I don't think so. I just don't know if I'm ready." "Ready?" It's silent for a few moments before I feel his warm, rough palm on my bare thigh. It's like all my senses are ignited when he touches me. All I can feel is his hand, all I can smell is his beautiful manly scent, and all I can see is him in front of me, the rest of the world invisible. "Is it okay that I'm touching you?" I let out a deep breath and lean closer, whispering near his ear. "Is it okay that I want you to touch me more?" Kieran's eyes open, his blazing blues stare into my dark brown ones, a slight growl coming from his throat. That growl will be the death of me. -- Gemma is a junior in college who is focused on work and school. There's no time for anything else according to her father and it begins to weigh on her heavily. Another thing that's heavy is Gemma's weight. Her body image has improved since going to therapy but just like anyone else, her insecurities are still there. Gemma is confident, yet shy; organized yet anxious. She's the epitome of an overweight college student with daddy issues. And mommy issues. Just issues in general. - Kieran is a junior in college who is focused on surviving. There's alcohol, sex, and anything else that can keep him out of his own head. Kieran is from a small town that holds a dark part of his past and he's doing anything he can to forget. He is moody, goofy, and mysterious. He's also so much more than anyone thinks. When Gemma and Kieran cross paths, it's a twist of fate that will change their lives forever. Join them on their journey to self-discovery and finding love for themselves, and for one another.
