Being Spider-Man has its downsides. As Uncle Ben always said, with great power comes great responsibility. Sometimes you mess up. Sometimes people die. Sometimes you find out that everything you thought you knew is a lie.
Izzy de Bracko might be falling in love with her best friend, Peter Parker. But amidst her parent's divorce and constant fights with her brother, she barely has time to focus on school and her robotics club, much less dating. Besides, it's always been true: falling in love with your best friend never works out. And she'd never want to lose Peter.
Peter Parker might be falling in love with his best friend, Izzy de Bracko. When he swings high about the Queens streets, all he can think about are her eyes and the way her voice clears up when she laughs. He hates lying to her about the so-called "Stark internship," but he knows it's better this way. He can't lose her like he's lost everyone else. He can't lose his best friend.

The Weight of Grief
It's almost funny. How grief sneaks up on you. One second, you're fine; you're coping well and then it hits you like a bullet, tearing right through your heart, almost killing you on the spot. Grief is a monster that lies dormant in the darkest quarters of your mind, growing stronger and stronger until you can't fight anymore. Until you can't breathe. Peter was fractured. The monster having grown too big, and without any support left to hold him up, the world of drugs dug its claws into him. And it was slowly killing him, like a sickly sweet poison that dulled the pain while quietly feeding on his soul. He was powerless to stop it. He was too tired to stop it. Tony was doing pretty good. Aside from having died, he was doing pretty good. Resurrected from the dead, check. Thanos dead, check. Wife and daughter thriving, check. He'd never expected to get his life back, that was for sure. CROSS POSTED Tony was not okay. Tony was the exact opposite of okay. Tony, stupid, stupid Tony, not only recruited a teenager, he recruited a teenager that was now being targeted by Hydra. This had to be his fault. Hydra must have somehow found out Peter helped him in Germany and picked him out as the weakest link. They wanted to find a way to get to the Avengers, to get to Tony, and they found it. ***** In the aftermath of Civil War, the Accords have been sorted out, but the Avengers are far from mended. Their issues must be pushed aside, however, when Peter Parker, who has until then kept his real identity a secret, arrives at Stark Tower to tell Tony that May is missing. It will take the whole team to figure out what Hydra has planned, but they are nowhere near prepared for what they will find. PS: I promise the writing does get better!
