Long ago, way before our time. A weary traveler left home to find new land for his family to thrive off of. Drought engulfed almost all of Elysium, called The Great Heat. The man traveled far and wide just to find a sign of life anywhere. It took him days and several hundred miles to find anything worth nourishment and care. He braved sand storms and blistering heat, his throat was dry and his feet could hardly carry him any farther. He collapsed onto the ground, his hands burning under the heat of the crackled ground. His vision blurred and mirages played with his suffering senses. His mind projected a tree into his line of vision, withering away but it's branches holding a single fruit. Besides his beliefs of it being a figment of his imagination, he crawled his way to it, bringing himself under the weak shade that it provided. He looked at the glistening purple fruit, what was it? He reached up to grab it, expecting it to fall through the image projected before him. His fingers wrapped around the fruit and he picked it from the branch. It was real! The fruit was real. He eagerly bit into the fruit and its juices trickled down his chin. He sat back and relaxed as the food nourished his body, he drank of its juices and picked out its many seeds, collecting them. He dug a deep hole until he felt moisture in the soil, planting the seeds into the ground. As it grew over time, the man used the old tree to build his home around the new one, tending to it religiously until it beared fruit. He brought his family and they lived there, planting trees and passing on the seeds for other places to spring life. Within five years the drought was over, Elysium was breathing again."

No child has ever been born on Saffire; clackers make up the entire population. All people who clack under thirty reverse age: each year they grow younger. Citizens over thirty grow old and are forced to mine the mineral that powers giant cooling stations to keep the planet habitable. Citizens solve disputes with gladiatorial combat. The prophesy of The Coming In Saffire's time of greatest need, a child will be born to a special woman, the Gravidarum. The child, who has no father of this planet, will be known as the Unum, a child to lead Saffire. The Helper will battle to keep the Gravidarum safe until the Unum is born. The people of Saffire have been waiting to see The Coming fulfilled. Demalynn assembles a group of clackers to get her home, the most important of which is a fellow clacker: eighteen-year-old Aiden. Demalynn is surprised to find out she is the Helper, but is astounded to learn the identity of the Gravidarum. Demalynn must battle to stay alive and fumbles towards the realization that Aiden is much more than a close friend. The Fall of Man

58 parts Complete

So much for an easy way to go. After thirty nine long years, each squandered day chained inexorably and uneventfully to the next, this is how it ends. How appropriate. Blinking back tears, Joanna shakes out another handful of pills into the palm of her hand... Environmental catastrophe, dismissed by many as myth or propaganda, is now an impending reality. Tides are rising and storms are brewing. Meanwhile, in a small-town suburban home, a small family is fraying at the seams, and on the brink of a collapse of their own. Following the suicide of his wife and imprisoned by grief, Arnold witnesses the inexorable downwards spiral of his neighbourhood on television, from the confines of his living room. Fifty years on, his son Noah is thrust into a dense, compact Britain he hardly recognizes, adrift in a society in the throes of transformation. Years later, the experiment falters and Nature threatens to take over entirely. Noah’s daughter Eve faces unimaginable consequences and her will to survive is tested to its limits... THE FALL OF MAN begins in the Britain of today. Three successive generations struggle to exist in a future rife with change. Their story chronicles a series of cataclysmic, global events, from the perspective of an all-too-human family. Two new chapters to be added each week...
