Dark Romanticism, Gothic Fiction & Cosmic Horror - Definitions and Key Concepts

This is not a scolarly article but rather, something I started writing for myself, to define the different genres better and to see where I was going with my own writing. The point was to gather my favourite literary genres that were related to each other, to define them and to see what were their key concepts and tropes, and to compare them to each other. It also helped me understand what my sources of inspiration were, where I was treading, and to find new sources of inspiration.
In this "book", I'll try to define these genres, list some of their tropes and concepts, give some cultural and historical background, list some authors who have contributed to these genres worldwide, and then draw parallels with the other arts (for instance, one can't talk about Romanticism in literature without mentioning it in music and visual arts).

A Big Book of Short Stories

Levi's Last Hope
*COMPLETED* When Rosie turned thirty-one with nothing to show for it, she panicked. Suddenly it felt like her biological clock was ticking, but she didn't want to settle for a man for the sake of having a child. So, after falling down a rabbit hole of research online, she decided to find herself a sperm donor. A strangely vague profile ends up catching her interest. The only real thing she learned about him was that his name was Levi and he was in the military. One invasive and intimate procedure later, Lily was conceived. It was a few months after her daughter was born, when Rosie should have been fretting about the price of nappies and lack of sleep, her worries were overshadowed by an event she never, ever could have predicted: a zombie outbreak. Rosie locked herself away in Finches tower block, stocked up on supplies from abandoned neighbouring flats, and lived every day with the sole purpose of keeping her daughter alive. Doing so meant avoiding the dead as well as the living. She'd been doing a decent job of it so far. Until a man breaks into the tower block, but it wasn't just any man. It was Levi, Lily's literal sperm donor. And he was there to save them. -- When a bioweapon was released on UK soil, Staff Sergeant Levi James Brackley was sent from pillar to post in an attempt to help neutralise and contain. Once it was clear neither was possible the last resort was to form a safe zone on the Isle of Wight. Levi decided to stay behind. The last evac chopper left without him on board. The Suggestion Box, Vol. 4: A to Z Challenge
Back in June, I decided to take the "A to Z Challenge", which usually involves writing something centered around one word corresponding to each letter of the alphabet. It being a short story challenge, occurring weekly, I decided to "up the ante" to incorporate the rules of a Suggestion Box list (Name, Place, Time, and Object) and turn it into the next iteration of this series! Forthwith, I went through every letter of the alphabet and tried to look back over any previous story that I'd written (except the fanfiction) to find characters whose names began with each letter. Most of the time, I could find a character from a previous Suggestion Box installment (so be sure and check out the referred "original stories", always noted at the beginning of the tale!) but I also took the opportunity to use characters from other unfinished novels, and even a few opportunities for tie-in stories to my published novella, "Princess of Undersea."Complete
The Book of Voltaire: Descent To Madness
I'm an emotional dependent vampire. I do not need to feed on mortal blood, all I need is people's energy. I give them a good laugh, and I absorb that positive energy. If I were to absorb negative energy, I would feel worse than they do. Not only that, I am also a delusional psychic. Being a delusional psychic gives me pros and cons of my daily life. 50/50 of my premonitions are either delusion or any actual foreshadowing of the future like a seer and the way I could read people's minds so easily. I have this profound power of knowing things instantly that is impossible for me to even know, to the point that I shouldn't even know them. It is a creative and intuitive talent that helps me write books as I could use clairvoyance around the surrounding area and beyond, in order for me to write as much as information as I can. Content Warning-This story is meant for mature audiences. It features adult language, references, situations, sexual content, graphic violence, and gore. Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my favorite genres to read. They are also my favorite to write. I've enjoyed writing since I won my first writing contest in the fourth grade. That was over twenty-five years ago and I haven't shared a sinlge word of it. Imposter syndrome is a bitch! Well, I finally managed to pull the trigger. Here is "O Negative". It's a mix of all of my favorite genres. I've mixed a fantasy, based on present-day Earth, with plenty of graphic horror and wrapped it all up within a world driven by the technological advancements that only can be obtained from millions of years of civilation. A small group of strangers find themselves surviving in a decimated world. It's bad enough to be stranded in a no-name town, but things become surreal when you realize the vast majority of humanity has died...it becomes terrifying when you realize you aren't that lucky to be alive. "Survivor's Guilt" isn't a thing when you find yourself the sole food source for an entire group of beings that no longer need to hide in the shadows. Man is no longer at the top of the food chain...they are now the cattle.
Life Or Story ?
This story kind of explains why I have problems finishing stories, u have ideas then it like how do I make them not so cliché or cringe worthy. A short story with a semi finished ending, it leaves me a bit of wriggle room to add to, if I decide to. Any similarities or references are purely for fiction and I did not base this story on anything except if the third world war started. It is fiction people. All credit to the original owners or creator's for the borrowed characters and media. I own the story and the original characters. There is some references to dark topics and subjects, pleae be warned. They do only skim it though.Complete

+ Co-written with Meteoritezr + First rule of living with the Flock? No names. Nothing real anyway. You don't survive with your humanity, you shed it, or it sheds you. Zombies were said to be impossible, that they'd never happen, well obviously whoever said that had underestimated human curiosity. It started with the melting of the Poles, which uncovered diseases that hadn't been seen in millennia. Obviously, when a flesh-eating parasitical virus was found, scientists in all their glory decided to study it, which led to the greatest calamity in human history. Warning: This is the original book 1, it is now considered more of a prelude/building character relationships arc than a book. This provides backstory and sets the foundation for the characters and their relationships. The action starts in the new book 1 - Migration. - TW: Gore, Cursing, Death, etc. Not recommended for anyone who can't stomach gore or other zombie stuff or LGBTQ+. Homophobia will not be tolerated in any way, shape, or form -Complete
