If you think this is what I ever thought I would be doing, you ought to look at the question mark at the end of this title. No one in their right mind would ~ever~ purposefully become a superhero (yeah, you heard that, Eric and Amrita!)

Hey, you don't know me, but you think you do. I'm Kim, Kimberly Nguyen. A Vietnamese Canadian girl, trying to graduate grad school and become a therapist. I am also the famed American superhero...Firebird. Talk about a divide, I know. But here's the thing, I really wish I could have had a guide when starting this superhero-ing business. So, I am writing it. Think of this as a little how-to-book . . . but actually don't, because I am pretty sure no one else is going to find themselves in my situation. Think of this as my autobiography, except not because my autobiography would be even saltier.

Whatever this thing is, by the time you finish, you will never look at a Marvel movie the same. You will give up all desires of power hunting. Your superhero dreams will crumble in the dust. And you may find that a snarky Asian-Canadian has infiltrated your consciousness. Don't say I didn't warn you!

After a careless scientific accident with new elements, people with supernatural abilities began to surface. Society adjusted, and social norms changed. Heroes and villians surfaced, making the world more complicated. Fast-forward one hundred years. Neera Sanchez fights for her survival as a supervillain. She does what she can to survive, inadvertently making her a target for the heroes. Behind her mask, she struggles in personal battles, alone. When her abusive boyfriend and her own fight against depression overtake her, she's introduced to the world of superheroes. Vincent Ciobanu is a new hero at a local base. He introduces himself to the ex-villain and takes Neera's focus away from the pain and suffering she had been used. Neera grows as she gets used to her new life. Times change and things shift for the worse as Neera's ex, Koen James, comes back into her life stronger as a supervillain, threatening the peace of the world and the freedom Neera discovered. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Neera's eyes closed and her chest rose as she breathed deeply, trying her hardest to focus her power on the heroes nearing her. She opened her eyes, watching intently as the heroes slowly crowded on the rooftop around her. The moon illuminated their serious masked faces and flashy suits, giving Neera the opportunity to figure out what powers they might possess. She kept her eyes halfway closed and studied them. Most of the suits were at least 75% black. One hero stuck out in her blue suit. It had no black on it. Neera was wary of the color of her suit. /How did I end up here?/ One of the heroes had surprised her with a lucky hit almost a minute ago. She had felt the impact and acted on it, diving to the ground. She had a better fighting chance against the six when they were caught off guard. And if one of them had the ability to purify water, it would all go down hill. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Romance; mental-health awareness; superheroes; abuse

"You're a nice guy, I wonder why you don't have a girlfriend, fufufu~?" "You're in your twenties and you haven't been with a girl yet!?" These are questions I commonly get, and I get it, I'm a decent-looking guy who's got a fancy job as a Detective. But in my defense... IT'S NOT THAT EASY TO GET A GIRL!! At least that was what I used to say until I somehow ended up dating an actress. Though that sounds like a dream come true I'm afraid she'll dump me soon since.... her Ex is a superhero and well... we all know what happens with guys like me... But I'll be damned if I don't try and make it work! So what if her ex has superpowers?! I have.... A stable job...? Oh boy, this is going to be hard... (All pics, gifs, ect are owned by their owners)
