A bloodthirsty killer's dilemma, basically. The blood-drunkenness concept comes from A Song of Ice and Fire. It was either the first or second book but I recall Tyrion recalling that Jaime described it to him and I've constantly been fascinated by the concept ever since. The idea of just getting lost in slaughter like a wild beast crying out for blood, kill after kill. And this story is just one of many manifestations of that arguably unhealthy fascination.
