Ellen, like her parents, is a Sonaxon; her parents love how cute and pretty she was, but they feared that since she was a Sonaxon her Sonaxon features would make her hideous, and so they have previously amputated her canines (so they don't become fangs) and horns.
Ellen is eighteen years old in human years, so she's expecting some big changes. Her parents have already attempted to dye her yellow irides green, but they failed to and now she has very poor vision. What else are they willing to do?
One day, Ellen comes home with a very sore back. After going into her room, she finds out why, and her parents aren't happy...
This is a short story/practice comic of one of my characters from a larger series (Gone) I've been working on since mid-2017. Since it's a practice comic, expect some weird confusing bits, but I'm open to criticism as far as format and other comic things! Criticism for the story, I may ignore since this isn't meant to have normal story guidelines, but some I might take depending on what it's criticizing.

In a world that screams, I stand in despair,
My voice drowned out, lost in the air.
Chains of tradition tighten each day,
I long to escape, but I'm forced to stay.
Each breath I take feels heavy and torn,
Every mistake a scar I've worn.
I crave a sky where I can be free,
Away from the walls that imprison me.
For now, I sit with my heart in pain,
Silent, yet screaming, again and again.
Though shattered, a spark in me still survives,
Dreaming of freedom where my soul can rise.
