A corner of his oh-so-sexual mouth raised in a half-smirk, "All you have to know is that I'm taking back what's rightfully mine."

My childhood was warped for a lot of reasons. My mom left us, my dad was really depressed, and our house burned down in a fire that nearly killed me. And then there were the other things. The things you don't talk about because you know they shouldn't have happened. Things people would rather chalk up to childish imagination rather than possible reality. Things like people appearing out of nothing, dreams leaving marks when you wake, the vaguest memory of some monster's teeth breaking skin.

So really, the basics.

I turned 17 and everything I thought I left behind as a child... came back. My mother, the idea of conflicting worlds my dreams had marked me with, and the monsters. Only, now my mother is sick. Now the ideas are brought about by brothers so different they might as well be strangers. Now the monsters aren't some vague memory.

They're all around me.

Anchor Morningstar owns and operates the Resting Point, a hole-in-the-wall tavern sitting right on the border between life and the afterlife where travelers catch a brief respite before passing through a portal for judgment day. For years, Anchor has lend a kind ear to those desperate souls and has offered words of encouragement as he polishes glasses and serves drinks. All this changes the second Cass stumbles into the bar. Carrying with her a tremendous amount of guilt and remorse, she begs Anchor to let her stay, so he offers her a warm bed and some tender loving care for the night. The outcome is not as expected. In hell, they say that soulmates are real and dangerous. They hold the power to bring someone back from the brink of death or tear their soul in half. Only the devil has no heart, and he has already claimed Cass as his soulmate. Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

We're Just Friends [BOOK 1 Of The 'We're Just' Trilogy]]

41 parts Complete Mature

They say all good boys go to heaven, but bad boys bring heaven to you. And that's what he brought me, Heaven. We were terribly perfect for each other. We'd argue, we'd scream- hell we'd throw things at each other. But at the end of the night we'd lay beside each other. What started off as a silly deal to get us both going ended up as so much more than i could've ever imagined... He was the worst best thing that happened to me, but our dark pasts ruined us. We took dying for each other a little too literal. "You say we're just friends but i swear, when nobody's around..." Started: April 4th 2018 Ended: July 23rd 2020 WARNING: Contains mature scenes, Strong abusive language. Mentions of rape, sex, murder, alcohol and violence. READ AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.
