"I know a way." The Joker whispered from across the ballroom, but Cath had no trouble hearing his sultry voice. "I know a way for us to be together, and save Chess, and for you to have your bakery. What do you choose?"

"You," she murmured, the words like sweet treacle as they rolled off her tongue. Jest's amber-gold eyes lit up. "Over everything, I choose you."

The Joker held his hand out and Catherine was running past the horrified faced and astonished guests. The guards were rushing toward them and Cath feared she wouldn't make it. She tripped and found herself in Jest's arms. Burying her face in his chest, the lovers were sucked under the earth.
