Disruption is a YA novel, written in free verse and set in the exotic East African culture. Seventeen-year old Molly Blake dreams of making a difference. Her aunt works at the US Embassy in Kenya and has arranged for her niece to volunteer as an English teacher at a secondary boarding school for runaway Maasai girls. Molly is a klutz at the local language and culture, but she tries. Until one day when the rural school is surrounded by an angry Maasai family who demands its daughter be released. Molly's world view is shattered when she hear Edina’s gruesome story. How can a father sell his teen daughter for cows? And what kind of mother would force her daughter down on the mud floor, immobilize her and listen to her screaming as the rusty knife cuts away the most private body parts? Molly’s adventure takes some new turns and Molly are faced with some of the most difficult decisions in her life.
