Areha de Emrys is a sorceress, inventor, artist, writer and alchemist. She is bastard daughter of the Duke of Avalon and a servant; her father sent her to be educated at the Temple of the Ancients, a known foster home for out-of-wedlock and orphaned children, most of whom with a talent, or are Gifted. Areha, along with her best friends and young apprentice, are among the Gifted few; by law, they are social outcasts because of this fact. However, powerful enemies of Alerynion, old and new, have risen and it is up to Areha and her friendsm to stop them - and find the legendary Book of Myrddin before they do.
