a long rusted shield lies in the rubble of a city destroyed and ruined long ago,
an adventurer comes running in fear of a dragon chasing her, picks up the shield to defend herself when strange things from long before start to reveal themselves.
this is a short story originally written in my poetry style.

Redefined every time someone new uses it, and sometimes in a more vile and lascivious way. Love was never on the table. Completely erased from his vocabulary after his mother died an unforgiving death. However, sometimes the feeling can emerge from even the darkest places in the world. Twisted and depraved. Behind the closed doors of a kidnapper's home. Or from the void that swirls in the chest of someone's missing heart. Even between the forbidden love of an angel and a demon. Love can come in all forms, in all contexts, and can form from even the smallest smidge of scorching hate. There is never light without darkness. There is never yin without yang. There are never days without nights. There is never love without hate. There is never life without death. Even villains and demons can fall in love with heroes and angels. His salvation comes from her, and her destruction comes from him. Like clockwork, they are a match made in the universe; polar opposites, but the attraction is never stronger.Complete
