I hadn't wanted to start talking about Grandpa, and I felt the familiar tightness in my throat. I was comfortable with who I had been, and moving forward meant figuring out a whole new version of myself, someone who could be OK without him.

It all started my sophomore year of high school. The first symptom that struck me was the constant headaches.
