We've heard the story about the nerd who falls for the bad boy. In every one of those stories there's a popular girl who goes after the bad boy but will never capture his heart. Olivia Calloway doesn't hide behind her books or baggy clothes. She hides behind her personality and her face of makeup. Being the queen of her school Olivia understands the expectations she has to live up to and she was doing a pretty good job. Her father is a business man who wants nothing to do with Olivia since she wasn't needed and wasn't wanted. They already had a heir for the company, Olivia's older brother Nathaniel. Olivia was only kept around to eventually marry and create an alliance with other companies. Her boyfriend Micheal is her future husband, but in his eyes all she is, is a quick hookup and the girl who was going to have his kid one day. One night though during a party Micheal try's to take advantage of Olivia's drunk state and almost succeeds until Olivia decides to fight back. She lets out all of her anger and her pain out of him. Eventually leaving him in a bloody mess. Micheals family almost opts out of the contract but Olivia's father makes a deal that he will have her all shiny and new by the start of senior year. She's sent to live with her grandma down in Rutledge, Georgia to finish out her junior year of high school. Olivia planned on keeping a low profile and getting through the year but what happens when you throw a brown haired bad boy in the mix anything is possible.

After she pens a very personal song from one of her old high school journals called, "Honestly," for her much-anticipated second album, she realizes her feelings will be under a microscope for the whole world to see, including Nate Stanton, her ex-best friend from childhood. He also just happens to be the one person who truly understands the meaning behind her heart-wrenching song. What happens when fate brings her face-to-face with the boy she thought she'd never see again? Nicky quickly realizes airing her emotions out in public via a number-one, hit song can make things complicated fast. As Nate and Nicky reconnect and navigate through their past, truths are revealed, assumptions are at an all-time high, and a publicity nightmare looms which jeopardizes all she's worked so hard for. While Nicky's misfortunes add up, she realizes fame comes with a price. She begins to understand the cold, hard facts, keeping her career intact as country's "it" girl and maintaining a personal life may be more difficult than it sounds, especially when you're living through a public scandal.
