All travelers at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are advised to wear facemasks as a precaution against a new virus spreading from Japan.

The United States International Security Authority (USISA) spokesman said on Friday reminders have been posted around the country advising individuals to wear masks, sanitize their hands, and cover their mouths and noses when coughing and sneezing.

I remember that announcement clearly. It was playing on the living room tv, as I was eating my morning Cheerios with my family, that was the day where everything started..
