In the modern world of Ida, spirits and humans have lived in peace for thousands of years. However, amidst such harmony, bad spirits (a.k.a. phantoms) threaten Ida's safety. The only ones who can kill such spirits are the spirit guard, nicknamed the Samurai for the long swords they carry. All of Ida fantasizes over these discreet heroes as they only come out at night to carry out their missions. 
Straight-A student June Belle can care no less for the Samurai. Her top priority at the moment is to get into university and live her life peacefully. That is, until she gets chosen to become a Samurai.
