Novella I - Welcome to the Cusp
The hardest part of playing dead is resisting the urge to move. Not a breath, shake or shiver, even in these frozen woods. These were the running thoughts of Hunter Stone, a man cut down and bleeding in an unknown place and waiting to die, until something unexplained happens.
Such survival conditions would be considered routine camping challenge for a drugged fueled survivalist who finds himself thrust into a realm ruled by both darkness and light.

For what, only they know..." Growing attached reluctantly to Valli. "How long you gonna pretend you don't wanna live?" Together they learn to trust and defend each other, battling through emotional and physical combats. But for what? Why are they fighting? They don't know. Rumors are spreading about Valli, lighting a mystery of why and how he got a target on his back. "'They're planning, Valli. Something is happening.'..." Solving this mystery takes time, and courage Valli isn't certain he has left. He is at a fatal disadvantage In a world as deadly and savage as theirs, there is no time to hesitate on emotions and risks; no time to overthink.
