The world is all about the balance between the two greater things. There's good and there's evil. Which one you choose is up to you, weather it's good or evil, but you must choose your place in a world of balance.

For Verity, that's never been a hard decision. She has always been able to stay on the bright side of things, even through her parents' divorce and the bullies at school. She and her partners in crime, Felix and Callum, think that the world is a happy safe place for them to do what and normal teenagers would do.

This all changes one day when Verity magically disappears and no one can find her. After about a month and a half she reappears and no one can tell what happened, even Verity has no recollection of the events. For the first time Verity discovers something that she never had before. Extraordinary and inhumane powers.

Soon she finds herself tangled within the world of heroes, villains, and even finds herself the rival of the famously known Lightstalker.

After a careless scientific accident with new elements, people with supernatural abilities began to surface. Society adjusted, and social norms changed. Heroes and villians surfaced, making the world more complicated. Fast-forward one hundred years. Neera Sanchez fights for her survival as a supervillain. She does what she can to survive, inadvertently making her a target for the heroes. Behind her mask, she struggles in personal battles, alone. When her abusive boyfriend and her own fight against depression overtake her, she's introduced to the world of superheroes. Vincent Ciobanu is a new hero at a local base. He introduces himself to the ex-villain and takes Neera's focus away from the pain and suffering she had been used. Neera grows as she gets used to her new life. Times change and things shift for the worse as Neera's ex, Koen James, comes back into her life stronger as a supervillain, threatening the peace of the world and the freedom Neera discovered. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Neera's eyes closed and her chest rose as she breathed deeply, trying her hardest to focus her power on the heroes nearing her. She opened her eyes, watching intently as the heroes slowly crowded on the rooftop around her. The moon illuminated their serious masked faces and flashy suits, giving Neera the opportunity to figure out what powers they might possess. She kept her eyes halfway closed and studied them. Most of the suits were at least 75% black. One hero stuck out in her blue suit. It had no black on it. Neera was wary of the color of her suit. /How did I end up here?/ One of the heroes had surprised her with a lucky hit almost a minute ago. She had felt the impact and acted on it, diving to the ground. She had a better fighting chance against the six when they were caught off guard. And if one of them had the ability to purify water, it would all go down hill. ⚡️⚡️⚡️ Romance; mental-health awareness; superheroes; abuse

Guide to Being a Superhero...'s BFF (Guide to Being, Novella One)

Friendship doesn't change when your bestie becomes a fire-wielding champion, but a lot of other stuff does. Like having to put 'kidnapped by idiots with powers' on your weekly schedule. And enduring said idiots' cliché monologues while inwardly roasting their interior decorating skills. Hey, I'm Mira. That's right, Miracle Simmons. BFF to America's favorite superhero celeb; Firebird. (Bu-bye, Chris Evens, your reign is over.) You've probably heard of her, but not of me. That's okay! I'm her bestie! It's my job to make sure she doesn't burn herself out fighting morons, keep her focused in her actual real life, and try to show her that she doesn't have to pick every fight. Uh-huh, I have it way worse than her. Anyway, if you're reading this, you are most likely a newbie superhero bestie. Or a salty television producer. Or my mom. (Hi, Mom.) Whoever you are; buckle up, and enjoy my tale of supervillains who aren't villains-or super, superheroes who don't want to work anymore, and the rotten media that started it all. And me. The wanna-be normal engineering student who God decided had to be kidnapped to get a date.
