There is the Star Realm, a place for cats who have served out of pure loyalty and benevolence, and the Dark Realm, a resting place for those who served out of treachery and greed. But then there are the Betweeners, cats too malicious to even rest in the Dark Realm or who have served a life that the ancestors cannot decipher as right or wrong.
Lynxpaw is the medicine cat apprentice of RidgeClan. Their neighbors are HeathClan and the two Clans have lived at unharmed peace for many moons. Everything is swell and easygoing for the apprentice, until a startling vision shakes her and her mentor, Nightfrost, and a trip to the Moon Realm warns them of danger lurking amongst the Clans.
The two never expected to return to a sudden death. Unsettling new presences and imagery within their Clan. A new wave of destruction has washed over their Clans and with Lynxpaw's granted power of short visions to depict the near future, will she and others ever be able to stop the possessing corruption overtaking their Clans?

Rockpaw feels like an outcast, everyday being hated on by his Clanmates for seeing things differently. So when the chance to prove them wrong comes up, he doesn't give it a second thought. But the evil still resides, and Rockpaw might know more about it then he's letting on, even to himself. Greyshard, as a former kittypet, has always thought of life in the Clans as challenging. For her, everything seems to go wrong. Every plan, every schedule, every patrol - ends up in a disaster, and its always because of her.
