Hi! I got this idea from a One-Shot book by @A_Insanly_Shy_Neko ! It was a roleplay they did and I took the idea and ran with it! I'm using it as a prompt!
Disclaimers:
1) @A_Insanly_Shy_Neko if you want me to take this down I will. I just had two chapters done and I couldn't wait to get this started!
2) I do not know where the art from the cover came from. I found it on Google Images and if someone can tell me who the artist is I will immediately credit them because I know it can suck to have your work used without any credit.
3) There are triggers in this. I don't want to name them because I don't want to spoil this entirely but this gets pretty angsty right off the bat. I don't have it planned out so I don't know what triggers may come up so that's also a reason I'm not making a list. But BE CAREFUL! BE SAFE! DON'T READ IF YOU MAY BE SENSITIVE TO TRIGGERING TOPICS!

Virgil has the next couple years of his life planned out: he'll graduate from high school and study Graphic Design in college. His roommate will be his best friend, Roman. At the end of college, he'll move into an apartment, get a boyfriend and start his life. But as he gets caught up in how he really wouldn't mind that boyfriend to be Roman, his high school throws a three-day school trip at him and his friends. He gets placed in a cabin with not only Roman, but his two other friends Patton and Logan. The four of them are also in an activity group together, which means that the four of them will be around each other for most, if not all, of the 72-hour period. So, here Virgil is. Stuck far away from home in a cabin with his crush. For three. Whole. Days. The Borrower and the Fairy Prince
*Completed* Virgil has never had it easy, not since he was kicked out of his home by his own father. He's struggled to survive, and has fought for food. He sees what should have been an easy meal, some berries on a tree hanging over the river. It should have been easy to get it, of course the stupid branch had to break and he was sent plummeting into the river. Roman loves to sneak away from his colony and his fae duties to head to the river, he's always wondered what is on the other side of it. Of course, he and everyone else in his colony is banned from crossing it. One day though, a stranger with no wings and a tail washes up on the river bank. When he takes him back to the colony, he's put in charge of taking care of him. Thomas has inherited his home from family, it's in the middle of nowhere in a forest. It was nice, and not too far from his home is a nice river he can explore. Of course it can't be so simple though, since Thomas is in debt and could very well lose the home. Not wanting to lose a home that had been in his family for so long, he struggles to find some way to pay it off. I can feel my heart racing against my ribs as if it is about to tear itself out of my chest as I gaze into a pair of violet-silver eyes. They are locked onto my own with a predator's intensity. It takes every ounce of self-control I have to keep up this foolish staring contest, but I keep at it. I will not appear weak in my own court! The stranger does not blink but offers the tiniest of smirks, as if sensing my growing distress. I take in a deep breath and silently will some steel into my spine as I, at last, address him. "What is your name and what business do you have here?" The stranger grins and instead of bowing gives a mocking salute. His voice is soft and dark, carrying the promise of death, "I am, Lord Virgil and I have come on request of the king to help him against the growing threat." I swallow hard as he steps closer toward me, those uncanny eyes never leaving my face. "It would be wise if you stayed a safe distance away from me, Prince Roman. I bring nothing but pain wherever I tread." Virgil warns. Before I can reply he brushes past me down the hall toward the throne room, dark cloak fluttering behind him like a pair of wings. Despite being abandoned at an orphanage when he was just a few hours old with nothing more than a necklace and a name, Virgil was happy. He had a good life where he felt accepted and didn't need anything else. However, when tragedy strikes on his seventeenth birthday Virgil becomes a shell of his former self. In an attempt to help Virgil, the orphanage transferred him to a different school. Weird things start happening to Virgil that he just can't explain and when three new people start to push their way into his life, Virgil finds himself in a very hairy situation. Can Virgil keep his walls up, or will they be torn down right before his eyes? And for the love of Crofter's why does he feel so weird when he is around the apparent leader of the trio? The boys have a secret. They were able to keep it a secret from everyone besides their families. That is, until their senior year... It started with the attacks. Patton lives in a world where the first words your soulmate says to you is written on your skin. The permentant presence of the words 'You're in my seat' on his thigh had yet to disappear until his soulmate utters them one day. Deep down he dreaded that day. You see, Patton had no interest in a romantic relationship which was abnormal in a world ruled by the soulmate system. Virgil hated the soulmate system. He hated it because it gave him the words 'well aren't you a ray of sunshine' printed boldly on his forehead. Luckily for him, foundation was his best friend (and his only friend, for that matter). He never showed it, but he longed for the day his soulmate would sweep the aggravating statement off his forehead and him off his feet. Logan, to put it simply, was married to his work. A love interest didn't interest him in the slightest. The only heed he took that the soulmate system existed was the thinly printed 'what did you say?' on his left palm. He heard that statement a lot but the mild annoyance on his hand was yet to disappear. Roman lived up to his name as a big romantic. In his eyes, the soulmate system was the best thing to happen to him, so the fact that the words written on his collarbone were 'go away' really burst his bubble. The thought of spending his life with his 'other half' was enthralling to him, but the fact his dad expected him to settle down with a nice girl was terrifying.
