Fate has a funny way of making a scene; and for Omolara Adeyemi, fate seems to have been dealing her the wrong cards. "When life gives you lemon, make lemonade", this is a popular saying that finds its meaning well reflected in Lara's life. When Lara was six years old, her home was wiped away by an unexpected flood, and so were her entire family. Although life has not been particularly mean to her, she has had a hard time trying to adjust to her new and unexpected life after the flood. Following the flood incident, she was adopted by a rich and arrogant African-American contractor, named Victor Wallace whom loves his money more than anything else. Life with Victor and his son has been fairly pleasant, until a huge misunderstanding occurred. Kicked out and shunned, she was sent away to a boarding school in one of the most affluent parts of Lagos seeing as she was still under his custody. Battered and bruised, Lara realizes that there is more to life than being confined physically and mentally and goes on a journey of self discovery as she tries to put the pieces of her life back together again.

Neighbors. Friends. Lovers. Enemies. That was their story... or at least what it looked like. Because hate was never really hate. And moving on was never really moving on. It was always just a matter of time before they realized the truth: They never stopped loving each other.
