"Gloria, why are you being like this?"

I walked down the halls of Pratt University, dodging students who walked as if they didn't really have a destination in mind. I had just left my English literature class and was on my way to business management, a course my dad forced me into taking so that I could start learning how to run the family company.

"Dad," I said softly into my cell as I dodged another student who was too busy looking down at his textbook to see me walking towards him. My book bag slammed against my leg as I walked faster to get to the class and avoid any more collisions. "I already told you that I didn't want to run the company. I have zero interest in it."

My father, Erik Walsh, was the CEO of a company known as Walsh Industries. He had taken over the company when he was only in his early 20s and has since made it his life goal to make it better than before. When I was younger, I heard rumors involving the company about how my grandmother was killed over it but that was all I knew. Why someone would murder another person over a company was beyond me, but it was also something I didn't want to find out. Plus, running a company was the last thing I wanted to do in my life. It wasn't my dream.

All I wanted to do was become a game writer. . .
