The Royal Guard of the Empire has faithfully served Byzantia for nearly three centuries now. Hand picked from foreign lands, these guardsmen hold no political ties, carry no agendas, and bare no creeds except to those who sit upon the Onyx Throne. They are vanguards, protectors, loyalists.

They are Vangen.

Change has come to the Empire. An Empress sits upon the throne now, destroying any who would rebel against her with both fire and iron. To the east, her loyal Vangen work to quash the newest rebellion, until a letter arrives one day, marked with the Empresses seal. The contents within bare only dread and disturbance for the Guardsmen. The Black Ministry, the former Emperor's cabal of Sorcerers, have turned against the Empress.

The Vangen's return is bittersweet. The city they once called home is now a battlefield, every street a choke-point. Every home a possible nesting ground for rebels. The Royal Guard will have to fight tooth and nail to put down the Ministry and protect the Empress, but the deeper they go, the harder the lines begin to blur. In a world where good and evil does not exist, where then does a man's loyalty lie?

Growing up in their sister's shadow wasn't easy; surviving after she left has been harder. In the nine years since their Kingdom was destroyed by the cruel Falcondar family, Kiridan has had two objectives: to stay hidden from the Falcondars, and to figure out why their sister never came back for them. They discover that she started an underground organization to overthrow the Falcondars...and then died three years ago while on a mission in the mountains. Determined to make something of their sister's efforts - and to be recognized as more than the less-talented sibling - Kiridan decides to break into the organization known as the Infernal Uprising, taking their rightful place among its leadership. But as the attack on the Falcondars draws nearer, they'll have to learn that leadership is more than barking orders, and that trust is difficult to earn. When the chaos spirals further than anyone expected, and new powers come into play from every direction, a lot of people may have to reevaluate what they stand for...whether they're an Infernal Uprising soldier, a traitor, or a Falcondar Princess herself. Sure, through the eyes of those in power, the world has always been in conflict. But for the next generation waiting to take over, the conflict is just beginning. And for the rest of the unsuspecting universe, it hasn't even begun. Which came first, the catastrophe or the change? And what's the difference in the first place? ******* ONGOING. {COMPLETED} The stars disappeared seventeen years ago. A black night sky has mirrored a bleak existence for the people of Auros. The Gifted, humans with unique abilities to affect the world around them, have all but become extinct thanks to the dark reign of a usurper. And somehow Zephyr Elvy has managed to live her nineteen years in the blissful quiet of a small town next to the sea. Zephyr has always been content to keep to herself, and happy to live a simple, if uneventful, life. If only the universe had that in mind for her. Forced to flee the only place she has ever called home, Zephyr finds herself running through a world she has only ever read about, along with two soldiers who have deserted their posts to keep their consciences clean. With only a letter and a mysterious weapon as clues to why she's being hunted, Zephyr must face her own fears while discovering a whole new world of terrors at the hands of a queen she knows next to nothing about. Having never risked anything her entire life, Zephyr is forced to choose between apathy or action, hiding and keeping to herself, as she has always done, or taking a leap that could change the world she is just now getting to see. ***** Thank you SO MUCH for reading! I'm updating every Monday until this story is done, and I've been sitting on this one for almost three years so I'm really excited to finish it! I don't have any beta readers for this as I write, so please let me know if you notice anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that needs fixing! :)

I joined the Rebellion to save my brother. Now I might be the one to die. Everyone knows that the Rebellion is the emperor's worst enemy. They fight against the emperor's fierce oppression, taking no prisoners and showing no mercy. When my brother was arrested and sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit, I knew joining the Rebellion would be the only way to save him. The longer I'm here, however, the more trouble I'm in. Knowing how desperate I am to save my brother's life, Sok Haneul has been training me in the art of combat for his own secret assignment. With his seductive power and dark charms, it's becoming easier and easier for me to submit to his commands... until we face the only enemy I don't know how to fight: Kim Saejun. The commander of the emperor's guards... and the only man I've ever loved. In this Choose the Ending novel, decide between three different endings for three different fates, or write your own!
