The Following of the False Word

"Chosen ones" are a myth. We would all like to think there's some rhyme or reason why bad things happen, but the truth is, most of us are just swept up in tragedies much bigger than ourselves.
The real world isn't simple. Our characters will have to deal with the complexity of a villain intertwined in government and religion. They hold their own lives in their hands, and will have to face their pasts to protect their future.

This book was originally supposed to be a dnd campaign, but my party bottomed out so I'm writing it instead. I'm pretty proud of it so far, it's probably the most interesting and though-through writing I've produced, but it's still a very rough draft. I thought I'd post it anyway to get some feedback.
Writing this is taking a while since I have several characters and themes that are diverse, so I've been doing a ton of research to make sure I accurately represent them. With that, I do wanna add that the story will have several scenes that can be potentially triggering, so in front of those chapters I'll add TWs and trigger-free synopsis.

General TWs- PTSD, violence/blood, death, mental illness

I'm a pretty sadistic author- I definitely put my characters through hell, but there's a couple things I won't write about bc they're triggering for me. You won't see any animal abuse/death, violent homophobia, or sexual assault.
