Poetry
Who am I really, and how can I change in this world? This poem was inspired through reflection on the integration and removal of various aspects of my personality - those which I deemed either noble and valuable or those done in bad faith and morally reprehensible. Quite a big difference between the two but this was my thinking at the time of writing this. Although I wanted to become a better person, I was questioning my intentions for doing this in the first place. I saw this self transformation as a surging, almost violent, act. This can be seen through my choice of language and visual descriptors at the time.

When hardship is experienced, it is only human of us to think on the past. Sometimes though, we end up in a cycle of rumination, reliving events that cannot be changed; we become depressed in our memories. Writing can be therapeutic, so here is a collection of poetry exploring a range of sad and confronting memories. By sharing these poems, I hope to not only further my journey towards peace with the past but to connect with others out there who may be feeling the same way. This is a collection of poems by a ruminator for ruminators.
