Fear The Walking Dead S8 | Troy Otto x Cristine Gerard (OC) Troy was dead-murdered. Cristine had clung to a flimsy thread of her reality through her connection with the ones she was returning to- her current small family unit, her grounding source in an otherwise chaotic existence. Yet, here Troy was, defying the narrative of her fractured reality. Cristine's heart pumped hard, and conflicting emotions drowned her senses. She had endured years of solitude, crafting a facade of resilience, and now, faced with his supposed face, her mind rejected the implausible truth. "This isn't real," Cristine blurted out, her voice laced with desperate denial. The fragility of her mental state, often masked by a stoic survivor persona she had unveiled in full, unraveled in the face of this impossible. "You're not real. "Attempting to escape, Cristine recoiled, trying to distance herself from the phantom holding her captive that defied the logic of her grief-stricken existence. "You're dead." Sheer panic gripped her, an overwhelming surge of fear that clawed at the edges of her consciousness. The very fabric of reality seemed to unravel, and as if caught in a relentless undertow, Cristine struggled against the tide. She suddenly kicked her feet, startling Troy as if trying to dispel an illusion. Breathing became a precious commodity, the air growing thin as panic tightened its grip around her throat. Cristine gasped for air, her chest constricting in the throes of a panic attack. Darkness threatened to engulf her, both in and out.

When the world collapses around you and everything that was 'normal' decays, discerning reality is no longer an innate process, but rather a distorted sense of one's self. Reality was now something created on the basis of an individual's morality and a group's ability to coexist. However, when this was the way of living before the apocalypse, when this was how Christopher Peletier had to survive every day of his life- surviving based entirely on his step-fathers fragmented morality, what changed? What made now different from before? The answer is nothing. The world was exactly the same, and eighteen-year-old Chris had a plan. For his family, he separates himself from the truth. He knows he is more than what he was told, he knows what is, will not be forever. He knows he is strong enough to keep his loved ones safe, too. If he could just endure a little more so that, when the time came, he could take the opportunity granted to him to free himself, his mother, and his sister from their constraints. At the first chance he got, he was going to live by first destroying the part of his life that made his family quiet and miserable. That way nobody would ever be able to dictate the way he, or the ones he cared about, lived their lives. - This is just a story I'm writing alongside my main one when I am in the mood. This means there is nothing saying when it will be updated, but I do have plans for it just like my other one!

Book 3: Flesh And Bone "You said you had my back." Cristine felt her scalp tingle, neck and facial muscles pulled tight. This conflicting feelings of helplessness and being cornered annoying her greatly. Everything Troy said made her angry and if it was before she wouldn't care about any of this. She'd stay as far away from him as possible and watch it all crash and burn before escaping with her family. But they had a mutual respect for one another now. That's what Cristine liked to believe until Troy smashed it like some cheap vase in barely a few days. Cristine felt betrayed and sickened by his actions. She should have been used to people disappointing her, but this time hurt her more than usual and Cristine didn't understand why. "Was that a lie?" Troy asked genuinely. "No," Cristine felt something tickle at the base of her throat and her eyes stung. "But I'm not going to pretend that what you did is okay. It'll never be okay Troy. Do you get that?"
