The title of the chapter comes from the song Silence says it all by Caroline Pennel. The song has not been released but was used in Shadowhunters, Episode 10 Season 3, Erchomai in the final scene between Simon and his mother.

I was going to write a oneshot...but by the end (as usual) I couldn't stop. Alec is studying to be a lawyer at university at his father's insistence, but he wants to be a vet. He loves animals and reading. His father abuses him. He secretly helps Ragnor, a nearby vet. It's Friday the 13th. Magnus is late for work. Again because of his cat. He's locking up his apartment when he gets a phone call that he's been fired. Alec was supposed to move into his new apartment that day, but the landlord left him the wrong key. Alec has been sitting on the stairs outside the apartment for an hour and a half.
