"His eyes were shut so tight, I could see the veins forming on his temples. His closed his fists, clutching the sheets beneath us and changing the colors of his knuckles. Not thinking otherwise, I placed my hands on his cheeks. But it seemed to effect him even more. His eyes flew open and the sight had me quickly retrieve my hands, holding it to my chest.
