The transfer of a fresh embryo follows the IVF cycle of ovarian stimulation and take place with an immediate effect after the procedure of egg retrieval. Transfer can happen in one to five or six days after successful fertilization. One of the good things about fresh embryo transfer is that it occurs right after the IVF egg retrieval process. Talking about frozen embryos, they are also known as FET. It is a term that actually refers to using thawed embryos that were frozen in a preceding IVF cycle. There can be an increased risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome among women who undergoes egg retrieval and transfer. When the stimulation takes place after the stimulation of the ovaries at the time of IVF, the addition of hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin from the pregnancy can activate ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. However it is said as being mild generally, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome can cause cysts and the discharge of huge amount of hormones that include progesterone, estrogen, and local cytokines.
