Melinda has everything going for her. She's captain of the cheer squad. She's popular and has the best best friend in the world. Her grades are perfect and she just got an early acceptance letter into the University of Georgetown. She doesn't have a boyfriend nor is she looking for a distraction from her future (not that she doesn't want one).

On the down side, her mother remarried when she was 13 and now the step-loser is just trying to take their mother away from them. About a year ago was when Melinda stopped the step-loser from beating her little brother, Jonah. She tried to tell their mother but he retaliated, pushing their mother further away from them.

Even though her life was somewhat perfect, she wouldn't be expecting what was about to be unleashed. Something purely chaotic was about to surface into the world and bring her down with it. Something no one expected to happen.
