Silvan is what you could call a computer geek - but she utilizes her skills a little differently than her best friend - she seeks to crack an internet empire threatening the dethronement of the Mariana's Web: The Omega Web. However, under circumstances one may call coincidental, the two enter the Games with allegedly one goal: Win the competition.
Unfortunately, they both discover a world of lies between each other and throughout the competition... an illegal organization - the Crimson Sparrows - operating under a veil of deceit, controlling, manipulating each event for the purpose of something too unimaginable to grasp...

Prologue: Earth has found out they're not alone in the universe. An alien species have contacted Earth, giving them a chance to be protected by the aliens out there that threatens the universe. They inform them that there are in fact thousands of alien species out there. The alien race, who calls themselves Opsidians, offer Earth a chance at competing in the Games, a televised reality competition game they host. In order to win the protection, Earth will have to send a tribute to the Games. They know little to nothing about the Games or these alien species. Every year, on the first of June, everybody who has or is having their eighteenth birthday joins. It's a race to the finish line in teams of four and you could either become a higher or lower number depending on when you reach the end. This was created in hope to give those with lower numbers a chance to climb up the ranks. The Trial then developed into more. Pairs of boys and girls with numbers one through thirty live, while the others with numbers of thirty-one and beyond are purged to maintain population control.
