James Bucharan 'Bucky' Barnes is still adjusting to everyday life. He struggles to adapt after a whole lifetime of being used and indoctrinated. it's painful and difficult for him to live on his own, but he feels he should distance himself from others around him.
Bucky is still missing and has dropped off of the radar from everyone. Not even the Avengers, or Steve Rogers himself can find him.
Steve knows far to well how difficult it is to adapt to a whole new life so he is the closest thing to home that Bucky has. Both are fighting internal battles and memories of the war still haunt them. Steve cannot blame Bucky or himself for going MIA.
Steve is on a mission to find his best friend and to show him that he has a future in this world. To show that he is not the villain Hydra made him to be. He could be a Hero.
*The events in this storyline take place after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but also to be interpreted as a different timeline to that of the MCU*
*This Story does explore the close, romantic relationship between Steve and Bucky, but there are also character and story build ups before the tradition 'fanfiction'. Therefore please enjoy the chapters as they are laid out and I hope the scene settings provide a well rounded story that is understood.*

This story is not basd in the marvel universe but it is my take on their characters and relationships outside of it, i hope you enjoy A famous singer stuck in an abusive relationship and all she thinks she needs is a friend. At first it doesnt seem like she will get even that when Bucky Barnes seems to hate her guts. But when all her secrets are revealed, will it drive him further away or lure him closer? Y/n needs help but doesn't know how to ask for it, does Bucky know how to give it? Fury knew that having the Winter Soldier on their side, would be beneficial, not to mention, it would stop Rogers from turning down missions he was needed on. Lexi follows Barnes from a distance, helping to set him up with a home and job, without him knowing it was her. She had moved in to the apartment across from him, playing the friendly neighbour, which was a feat in itself. Lexi was never considered a friendly type of person. It was her mission, to help keep him safe, recover his past, and obtain any Hydra information. She makes sure to bump into him, while shopping for groceries, introducing herself, but she finds he's very closed off and guarded. Can she get through to him, or will he up and run again? When Hydra operatives come crashing through their complex, Lexi must make the choice, to stand and fight, or run. Will the two work together?
