Injured in a mysterious explosion while testing an experimental jet engine in 1995, Carol Danvers is left with psychological wounds that prevent her from going back into the Air Force. Plagued with mysterious blackouts that seem to have no apparent cause, Carol is determined to find out the truth of what happened - even when every force seems to be trying to stop her. With the help of SHIELD agent Nick Fury, her longtime best friend Maria Rambeau, and a therapist who seems to know more than he's letting on, Carol eventually unearths the truth, but at what price?
