This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room. Slowly the two begin to fall in love and Mariah tells him her story, and of the hidden danger that lies up the street from him. A dangerous strangers loves to kill little girls, and his sister Kit

❝They say it was suicide❞ When Scarlett and her friend discovered three bodies hanging from the age old willow tree, the town deemed it as suicides. A family tragedy. Nothing more. But then she discovers a note written by the killer. And then she receives more notes. Each detailing an event in her past which only she could have any knowledge of. Someone has been stalking her from the moment she stepped foot in this town. Someone close to her. Someone she trusts. She doesn't know what they want. She doesn't know who they are. For Scarlett, things only get stranger. Her boyfriend begins acting up, the murders are messier and more obvious and she has a complicated relationship with her best friend's brother who, as it turns out, is the only person she can truly trust anymore. As the dead bodies pile up, Scarlett is thrust deeper and deeper into the complicated past, and her chances of making it out alive are slowly diminishing. [Rated Mature for strong language, somewhat graphic depictions of violence and: TW for suicide, depression, self-harm and mental illness.
