Sean and Finn Tierney, two brothers living in a small town in Iowa, face the difficulties of growing up during the great depression while their family struggles to hold on to a business and a farm. As the world edges closer to war, they choose different career paths. Meanwhile, their uncle Deklen stumbles into a dangerous situation that will change his life and the lives of all the members of his family. Both brothers join the military but in very different roles. Many little known stories of World War Two are revealed in the war exploits of the Tierney brothers. After the war, the brothers continue their lives, one as a military officer and the other as a farmer. In this book, the reader will discover some of the untold stories of the great depression, world war two and the post-war period. It was a fun and challenging book to write. My research took me in many different directions just as the story will take the reader in many different directions.

The Debt Collectors War بقلم TessMackenzie
96 جزء undefined أجزاء إكمال
Ellie is a soldier in a world without governments. A generation ago, a series of financial crises caused most of the world’s governments to collapse, and left many of the people in those countries in terrible personal debt. Since then, the worst debtor nations have been under military occupation by the troops of the debt recovery corporations, and the worst debtor of all is Měi-guó, the old United States. Ellie is serving in the Afghan Police Action when she receives bad news from home. She is told the daughter she hasn’t seen in years is dead. She flies home from war, upset, to do what needs to be done, but once there she finds out all is not as it seems. Ellie’s daughter is alive and unhurt. She is being held by of one of the many debt-recovery corporations. Held, for leverage, to make Ellie do the corporation a favour. Ellie’s daughter will be returned unharmed if Ellie does as they wish. The son of a company director is lost somewhere in the wilderness of post-debt-restructuring America, and hasn't been seen for three days. The company wants Ellie to go and find the kid, and Ellie doesn't know if she can. The one rule she's stuck to all her working life is to never to go to America, but now she might have to. She will have to, if she wants to save the daughter she hasn't seen in years. This is fairly dark and gritty near-future dystopian SF. ----- Debt Collectors War is now on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QZG1RHI/ Also on iTunes and B&N and other places. Just if that's easier to read that way! But please don't feel obliged or anything, and thank you for looking -----
The Famine - A Saga of Survival and Rebellion بقلم ainonymoustales
1 جزء مستمرة
In the midst of Ireland's darkest days, when famine and despair gripped the land, the O'Donaghue family emerged as both victims and heroes of a tumultuous era. The Famine weaves together the harrowing struggle for survival with tales of love, betrayal, and the unyielding spirit of those who dared to dream of a free and united Ireland. Spanning continents and generations, this novel follows the O'Donaghue's from the fields of Cork to the salons of Paris, and from the bustling streets of New York to the unforgiving outback of Australia. Through their eyes, we witness the indomitable resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of hope. This is a story not only of famine, but of rebirth, revolution, and the quest for justice. As you turn these pages, may you be transported to a time when history was forged by the courage of ordinary people. This novel is a product of years of research and reflection on one of the most harrowing chapters in Irish history: the Great Famine. It is a story inspired by the resilience of the Irish people, their ability to survive unimaginable hardship and to fight for a better future. The goal has been to capture the complexity of this period, not just as a historical event but also as a human experience. The characters in this novel are fictional, but their journeys are based on the real-life experiences of countless individuals who endured the Famine and its devastating consequences.
